Innovative manufacturing technologies for maximum precision
GUTMANN offers its customers a wide range of state-of-the-art manufacturing processes. These include powerful extrusion presses in various sizes, surface finishing plants for powder coating and anodising, as well as a wide variety of facilities and procedures for further mechanical processing. This includes equipment for sawing, deburring, drilling, and punching for shape-cutting on modern 5-axle machining centers as well as devices for folding, embossing, and thermal bonding. Structural component production and manufacturing of complete components including function tests are becoming increasingly important as well.
Extrusion also allows aluminium profiles to be produced in complex geometries.
When manufacturing aluminium profiles, a billet heated to the forming temperature of approx. 500 °C is pushed through a mould with an extrusion die. A recipient encloses the billet. The outer shape of the extruded profile is determined by the mould.
Mandrels shaped in various ways make the production of hollow spaces and multi-chamber profiles possible as well. The extruded profiles of lengths up to 55 meters, are then stretched, sawed to manufacturing lengths, and then generally aged artificially in order to increase stability.

Finishing of aluminium surfaces
Some procedures in which aluminium surfaces are treated can not only alter the appearance of the metal but also improve surface quality and corrosion resistance.
Anodic oxidation
It is also called “anodising”. This anodic oxidation is the electrolytic oxidation of aluminium surfaces. This procedure results in extremely hard and scratch-resistant surfaces while maintaining the metallic nature of the aluminium. If desired, the anodising layers may be coloured using different methods.

Powder coating
This method makes surfaces long-lasting and functional while also producing a decorative appearance. The procedure does not involve solvents and covers the entire range of RAL colours. Special colours, different textures as well as different surface appearance effects, such as matt, shiny or metallic are possible as well. Powder-coated surfaces can be produced in a highly weatherproof quality.

Aluminium allows for a large number of complex options for further processing
GUTMANN is ideally equipped for this: In addition to processing on modern, high-performance CNC machines, sawing, deburring, milling, punching, drilling, grinding, and thread cutting are all standard. GUTMANN is also set up for customised mechanical processing.
This includes welding, soldering, gluing, riveting, screwing, bending, and joining. The joining method is used especially for extrusion profiles with plug connections, hinging or snap joining. When aluminium is combined with other materials, many of the mentioned processes are also applicable.
