For the construction of the Allianz Arena in Munich, 2,800 diamond-shaped, transparent air cushions were required for an area of approximately 60,000 square feet. The architectural design resulted in 1,400 different diamond-shaped sections. Aluminium was the material of choice here because it ensures optimal tightness for the roof structure despite variations in temperature. GUTMANN GmbH supplied approx. 100 tons of custom fit extrusion profiles as well as full mechanical processing. The sawed, milled, bent, and anodized profiles were used to border the membranes for the roof structure. The profile cross-sections were developed jointly with GUTMANN GmbH all the way up to the ready-to-install product.

Transportation

Aluminium is true all-rounder. With its applications in cars, commercial vehicles, and railway transportation, aluminium is not only interesting from an ecological point of view but also from an economic one. Wherever aluminium is used in means of transportation, its low weight helps reduce the amount of fuel needed. It is also extremely sturdy, corrosion resistant and saltwater-proof, which makes it an ideal material for aircraft construction as well as ship and yacht building.

GUTMANN GmbH supplies pipe clamps protected as a utility model in 39 different diameters ranging from 33.7 mm to 154 mm. The pipe clamps connect abutting pipes. In the food industry, these pipes are used to transport flour, sugar, or rice. The extruded aluminium profiles replace the previously used stainless-steel pipe clamps, which were very difficult to manufacture. The advantage of the new generation of pipe clamps is obvious: They are easier to manufacture, last longer, weigh less, and thus represent significant cost savings.
