For the first time, the works council, trainees, and management of the Weißenburg aluminum plant organized a Kids Day in the cafeteria, where children were looked after from 7:30 a.m.
A good 30 children romped around in the canteen from early in the morning and were allowed to do crafts, paint, and play under the guidance of the works council members and trainees. As HR manager Kai Waldbauer explained to our newspaper, the idea was very well received by the parents: They were absolutely thrilled.
The staff-to-child ratio at Gutmann on the Day of Repentance and Prayer significantly exceeded the legal requirement, and the trainees were also delighted to be able to do something completely different from their usual work in the office or at the workbench. And so, in different age groups, the children painted, made buttons, told stories, crafted key rings, and even learned simple metalworking techniques. At around 2 p.m., the award ceremony for the painting competition took place in the canteen and the children said their goodbyes. Because the first Kids Day at Gutmann went so well yesterday, it is quite likely that it will be repeated next year.
